Building Indexes On Novell Network Workstations Twice As Fast Now

Unibase by DMAC releases 7.2, 7.2i, and 7.3i now build index files twice as fast under MSDOS 6.2. An environment variable must be set pointing to the Unibase Smart Drive Space on the local drive. Users can download the new drun and related instructions from the Unibase BBS.

We at DMAC stumbled into this easy way to speed up index building while compiling reference numbers for the OS/2 WARP version of Unibase. Unibase by DMAC now allows the user to take advantage of the write-behind caching on local drives in MSDOS 6.2. See the separate article on Smartdrv for more information on speed for PC users.
