Manuals Almost Out on Paper; New HTML Version on CD-ROM

Publishing just is not what it used to be. Not too long ago, once  we  finished writing the manual with its  changes  the manual  was  as good as out. Now with spelling  and  grammar checkers and indexing and table of contents and print proofs and  web  proofs the process only begins  with  the  written word.

Noreen Dunlap, Ricky Nelson, and Deborah Link have all  been to  EEI  Training's  Ventura  Publishing  course.  Each  has significantly contributed to the next manual set.

First  will  come the paper version. Hopefully  we  will  be using the latest proofs for the manuals sent out in  August. They tell me that the new cover designs (so we all can  tell the versions apart) are ready to go.

Next,  with a click of an option in Ventura Publishing  will come the HTML version  or so Ricky Nelson tells me. We  will be  distributing this version on the CD-ROM with  everything else.  We even have a copy of Netscape Navigator on the  CD- ROM so that a good browser is available if the user does not have one currently on their system.

Everything  is  up to date in the latest manual.  Even  flat ASCII file processing verbs are included. I suggest we  call the latest version Unibase by DMAC 7.47i but they  overruled me  because everything now says 7.46i.
