Working on a conversion from one of our competitors products which the competitor has not seen fit to keep current, I was surprised to see that his bin directory had about 3 megabytes of executable programs. I looked at our 14 megabytes, which are compressed from much more, looking for the differences. DMAC has over 100 executable programs while the competitor has about 30. Why, I asked? Small Needs Beget Small Programs Ok, so we at DMAC do create a lot of executables which help a particular user or group of users use Unibase by DMAC the way they want to. If we create it, we tend to distribute it to all users. I guess that's why our support people are talking about using CD-Rom for the releases later this year. Original User Used Micro Data Anyway, here is another simple utility which might help people besides the former micro data users for which it was developed. The utility relates the Novell Login Name to Unibase by DMAC User ID. It also lists the connection number. Why was this needed? The user had set up its novell network with the novell name being the location row and column in a large room. Someone in management wanted to know where a particular DMAC User was sitting at any given time — hence the program. Available For All Users The program is available if anyone needs it.
