TextWare Users Join Those Who Have An Easy Conversion Route To Unibase Whenever a Data Entry / Image Entry product quits being at the forefront of either its makers product line, or the current industry performance levels, we at DMAC soon get requests to automatically convert from the product to the Unibase by DMAC environment. We at DMAC think this is because we always provide an easy upgrade path to our latest products from all our earlier products. We know providing this path is not easy. A lot of effort goes into determining how to go from one release level to the next — especially since we now have it as a menu item in Unibase by DMAC. Siemens Nixdorf Uses Upgrade Path Our near perfect conversion for Siemens Nixdorf DPEX, DCPA and related products earned us a partnership agreement with Siemens Nixdorf as part of their year 2000 upgrade plan. Many, Many Other Conversion Paths Throughout back issues of The Unibase Technical Review readers can see that we have a big variety of conversion paths from almost all the abandoned and obsolete products previously used for data entry. Textware EZC/DE2 Users Move Now Now Textware EZC/DE2 users can move easily into the Unibase by DMAC environment. This conversion process is so simple we are allowing users to do the conversion without either a DMAC person on site or sending us the programs. The first few conversions have gone very well. Sales Team Recognizes Easy Move The sales team at DMAC takes advantage of the ease of startup of Textware EZC/DE2 users by offering special prices to these new Unibase users. Partial Integration of Unibase Possible In some places our clients even have a gradual shift to Unibase because upgrading can be done on a job by job basis at the customer's site. Thus the difficult jobs can be done in Unibase by DMAC using the old product for easy jobs. AID Language Has Better New Verbs The Textware DE2 images process used a bunch of specialized system calls instead of new verbs to implement image related stuff. We have not automatically translated this system call based stuff to our faster and more powerful verbs, but probably will when requested. Year 2000 Driving A Lot of Upgrades As usual, the year 2000 problem, lack of a product improvement cycle, our fantastic support, and pricing have been listed as reasons for these conversions. Service organizations like single server network license when they get up to our maximum license per server network cost. Welcome aboard former Textware users. As usual, we at DMAC will try to implement any new ideas which you all relay to us during your easy upgrade to Unibase by DMAC that will benefit our user base.
