Unibase by DMAC Ported To HP 9000 UNIX Servers

Unibase by DMAC, release 7.4i, has been ported to Hewlett Packard HP 9000 series UNIX Servers. Unibase by DMAC ported with ease because it is written to POSIX ANSI C language standards.

As has become DMAC's custom, DMAC acquired an HP 9000 UNIX server so that it can continue to easily provide updates and product support to DMAC's new HP 9000 based clients. The HP server joins the Tandem, Unixware, and Linux UNIX based servers on DMAC's network.

Many Servers on DMAC Network

DMAC also has two Novell 3.12 servers, one Novell 4.10 server, and one Windows NT 3.51 server on the same network as the UNIX servers. With NFS, Windows based, and Beame and Whiteside software, the servers all talk to each other.

Naturally the UNIX servers have the most seamless connectivity; then comes the Novell connectivity; and lastly comes the Windows NT server. The Windows NT server cannot work well with the other two environments without additional software.

One Source Code for All Versions

The task of starting with a single set of source code for these various server versions, as well as the PC standalone version, has introduced interesting logistical support problems. Users of the DMAC Bulletin Board Service will notice that a large number of better labeled download boards has been established to help clients locate the latest executeable programs within 1) each release, 2) each server, and 3) each operating system.

DMAC's expanded Quality Assurance department has developed a new system to track enhancements and deficient repairs throughout all Unibase by DMAC environments.
