Using Flat ASCII Data Transfer File -

DMAC Shows Unibase by DMAC Interfaced With TeraForm's FormMapper at TAWPI

Unibase by DMAC now receives OCR/ICR and related image data from TeraForm's FormMapper Image Processing System. The data is automatically put into Unibase by DMAC batches which can be updated, repaired, verified and /or output within the Unibase by DMAC environment.

The exchange of data uses a flat ASCII data transfer file. Both DMAC and TeraForm are encouraging Cornerstone to have its InputAccel Document Operating System use a standard flat ASCII data transfer file.

Flat File Experience Now

Since the new data transfer file structure from Cornerstone would not be available until October, 1996, DMAC and TeraForm proceeded with a flat ASCII transfer file on our own for The Association for Work Process Improvement (TAWPI) exposition on July 28-31, 1996 in San Jose, California.

The format of the Flat ASCII transfer file most likely will be switched to the flat ASCII transfer file format specified by Cornerstone when available.

TeraForm's FormMapper Is Smart

TeraForm's FormMapper automatically locates and reads specific data fields from paper forms and structured documents. This technology handles the unpredictable variations in form design, data placement, text quality, and image scanning which normally prevent reliable zoning and reading of forms based data.

FormMapper allows users to construct simple yet powerful rule sets which govern the automatic detection, zoning, and extraction of specific data fields from a form.

FormMapper does not require that the client re-design their forms to be "computer-friendly"; rather, it adapts to the client's existing documents.
