Unibase By DMAC, Release 7.43i Has 32 Bit Windows 95 Version

The Unibase by DMAC Release 7.43i 32 Bit Windows 95 Version is now in beta testing. The 32 Bit Windows 95 Version peacefully co-exists with the current 16 Bit version of Unibase by DMAC. Mix and match is the rule here.

DMAC is continually trying to help users have available the Unibase by DMAC features on whatever client or server platform is dictated by either need or outside influences. We at DMAC have adopted a mix and match approach where any server in the IBM/Microsoft OS line supported by Unibase will support any client supported by Unibase.

To achieve co-existence, the new 32 bit WIN32 ANSI POSIX C program executables reside in their own binary directory -- bin32. In addition, the standard icons for 32 bit menu, 32 bit de, and 32 bit ez_edit have a large 32 in them. The icons can be loaded in the same program group specified for the 16 bit icons so that at execution time the user can choose whichever version he wishes.

Run speeds are currently being investigated. As with our tests with the 32 bit OS/2 WARP version under OS/2 WARP of Unibase by DMAC no significant difference in speed is expected when compared to the 16 bit version under Windows 95. Enhancements and much further testing will expand this 32 Bit version of Unibase to include the Windows NT client and Unibase Imaging support. Initial testing for the beta release was on Novell and NT servers.
