Unibase by DMAC Release 7.43i
Supports New Color Scheme

Back in 1993 DMAC changed the default colors to Red, Blue, and White. They were accepted immediately by most clients. Of course, since all clients could pick what ever colors they wished, we really did not know if some other combination might be more acceptable.

In working on the MUI/GUI version of Unibase by DMAC release 7.4i, Catherine Tarbox came up with the following comment about colors in "The Windows Interface Guidelines for Software Design" from Microsoft: "A neutral color (for example, light gray) is often the best background color."

So she came up with the following setting for UBCL which controls the colors in Unibase by DMAC:

UBCL=112;116;113;114;7;

This setting gives a grayish white background, with black letters and red for emphasis. The current default settings are as follows:

UBCL=23;19;20;134;71;

Unibase by DMAC, release 7.43i, has changed the default colors to those proposed by Catherine. You can try them now just by setting the UBCL as shown above in either the unibase.ini file or in the environment before calling the Unibase by DMAC environment. If UBCL is removed from the environment, then the default colors are used.
