DMAC's New Home Soon Problem: DMAC keeps growing; space does not; Ed Layne says sales people need windows; Charley Rouss Fire Company wants new $400,000 fire truck instead of two fire stations; Winchester wants software companies on Cyberstreet (the city's name for Loudoun Street in historic old town). Solution: DMAC acquires Charley Rouss Fire Company's Sarah Zane fire station on Cyberstreet. Years ago one of our competitors loved to refer to DMAC as those people above the garage. He was sort of right; our offices are above the fire trucks in the Charley Rouss Fire Company. DMAC Supports Volunteers Well, this summer we plan to move to a different fire house -- the Sarah Zane Firehouse. Ed says the important thing is that we go from three windows to 23 windows. We all will appreciate not being so crowded. The fine folks here in Winchester Virginia have made this possible. Not only did the local home town bank help, but also the fire company, the city inspectors, the development council, the Board of Architectural Review, and even the retired people on the mall have pitched in so that we can move. Winchester VA (Pop. 25000) Winchester, Virginia is an almost perfect place to live. Gary and I walk to work each day. The new fire station is only two blocks away from our current location (that's why it was surplus) so we will still walk. The Sarah Zane Firehouse sits at the end of the pedestrian mall (Cyberstreet) which is in the Old Town Historic District. Some Renovation Required Of course we have to add new electricity and air conditioning and a wall or two -- but what the heck. This new building really makes me want to learn how to import pictures for the newsletter. The brick work on the building is superb. The hose tower, with fire bell, makes us look like a church. You all come see us now.
