Update Mode in Unibase by DMAC
Differs from Unibase Imaging

In the Spring, 1998 issue of "The Unibase Review" we had a small article about new update mode features in Unibase by DMAC. Soon after that issue, the developer at one of our best dealers called and wanted the new features in Unibase Imaging.

We at DMAC carefully explained to him that the features were not coming to Unibase Imaging until release 7.46i because the features were not compatible with Unibase Imaging update mode features.

The dealer's developer argued that he would beta test the features until he had the incompatibilities resolved. Sounded good to us; got egg on our face.

We did as asked -- put the new update features in for the dealer (thinking that it would find a good beta test site). Unfortunately, other users at the dealer were using features in 7.44i which the developer removed by default. We at DMAC caught "what for" for what the developer did. The developer had signed the beta site agreement but refused to take the blame for the mix-up.

It is all straightened out now, I think, but we have two different versions for update mode between Unibase by DMAC and Unibase Imaging. In an orderly way we will move the features added to the Unibase Imaging version back to Unibase by DMAC and then have the beta site users for Unibase by DMAC test that they do what is wanted.

Nobody said life was easy.
