| "Bugzilla" Comes to DMAC; Makes
the User in the Know
Sometime first quarter 2000, DMAC's technical web site (dmac-unibase.wisecarver.com) will have a bug tracking and reporting system for all to see. This is "Bugzilla." What is Bugzilla? Bugzilla is is a database for bugs. It lets people report bugs and assigns these bugs to the appropriate developers. Developers can use Bugzilla to keep a to-do list as well as to set priorities, schedule and track dependencies. Not all 'bugs' in this system are bugs. Some items in the database are know as Enhancement Requests or Requests for Enhancement (RFE for short). An RFE is a bug whose severity field is set to 'enhancements.' People often say 'bug' when they mean an item in a bug reporting system. Often RFEs are call bugs. Use of "Bugzilla" gives a common feedback on all bugs and RFEs to DMAC web site visitors. Among the many users of the "Bugzilla" approach are Netscape and Redhat. DMAC hopes by making the status public, users will see DMAC's support is the best in the data entry field. Mike Brill is heading up this project for DMAC. Mike has a bachelor of science degree in computer programming and information systems. He comes to DMAC from the security industry.
